Hi everyone, just curious if $1200 is too much to pay for renting a new duplex in Lavon, TX? It's a small town near Plano. Is anyone renting out there??

No. People can buy a $150k+ home and all in - mortgage, taxes, insurance- be at or under $1200.

My condo in Uptown is rented out for $1400. I can't imagine paying $200 less for a condo/duplex in the sticks......

it's a brand new duplex with higher end fixtures in that master-planned community that has pools and a lot of amenities. 1200 sq foot, double garage. was thinking of buying it as as investment. i probably wouldn't want to live out there myself being young but what about young families wanting to raise their kids out in a safe environment or retirees?

No, never, never.

Oh, changed my mind......yes! Buy it! We need every vacant property bought up, it does help our economy. So go ahead and buy it please, because the locals certainly will not.

Whoa, whoa whoa. Only 1200 square feet for $1,200 per month? I was assuming it was at least a large duplex. No. You would have a chance in a some nice in town neighborhoods. But not in LaVon. People move that far out for more space for cheap. Your proposed property is neither.

Probably $700 would be more in line out there.
