Hello,

I need some advice and information. I will be shortly moving to Plano, TX and I have an 8 yr old daughter who is on Autism spectrum. She is on border line and some what high functioning. I am considering the following elementary schools for her to join in the Plano Independent School District area (PISD). Aldridge, Shepard, Jackson and Sigler. My first option would be Aldridge is it will be very close to the apartment that I am planning to rent.

Any feedback on the support services for Kids with autism in the above schools will be greatly helpful to me in making a decision before i move there.

Thanks!

Wylie ISD. Groves Elementary.

Do you need help? Do you understand the FAPE, IDEA, 504, and IEP process?

Thanks for directing me. I know IEP process but not sure of others. Any information on othe others will be useful.

But do you have any idea about the schools I mentioned in Plano ISD (Aldridge, Shepard, Jackson and Sigler) as I am planning to live near by?

We are a little east of Plano, so I cannot speak directly about those schools.

Some Vocabulary and Backgrounders

FAPE – Free Appropriate Public Education - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That also branches into IDEA and Section 504.

You need to be sharp on all that, as you will be a very key part of the IEP Team.

A good forum on related matters. Came from a harsh source, but some very good information on the Different Learners section. Lovejoy ISD has a harsh reputation for running out Spectrum, etc., kids, so this is a parents’ forum >>>
