Regarding the homes built within the last ten years or so in Southlake, Colleyville, Grapevine, what is the most common Architectual Style ?

French, Country, European, etc etc ?

Reason is I am considering building a home via home plans and do not want to build a house that will grossly clash with the surrounding homes / local market.

With that said, how common is the Mediterranean / Spanish style in the area ?

Thanks

this is one reason I am considering building my own home, but for re-sale/marketability it should jive with the local styles should it not.

I can't build a castle with a moat and cement lion heads and drop it into Southlake

Mediterranean has been not uncommon the last 3 or 4 years. I'm thinking this may have to do with Californians moving here. I know on my street, Californians moved in and built what I would consider a Mediterranean/Spanish style home. It doesn't clash..because we have quite a few stucco homes ..It blends in fine....It's more Mediterranean than Spanish.

sure you can! And you wouldn't even be the first!

I don't spend a ton of time in the NW burbs, but there are definitely a lot of
Mediterranean homes in Westlake/ Vacquero. I have noticed as many in Southlake or Colleyville- it's more of the "Faux Chateau with turrets galore" or Stone/brick Tudor with turrets, and a bit of French Country. Not that there aren't any Mediterraneans, but they aren't the dominant architecture.

I went to SL today and drove around for a while after my meeting ... saw plenty of castles, turrets and even few lion heads. You'll blend right in.

Who gets jealous of faux castles and turrets in yet another suburb? Its a nice town but does lack character.

I smell other things in Southlake but it's because I ride horses there.

In the last 10-15 years, the style of construction up there has been Texas vernacular but most of what is being built these days is closer to polite style (more peacocks and less function).
