Well I am sure this has been asked a bunch of times.I searched first and did not see the answer,so here goes.I am looking a moving to the Dallas area. Some where north of there I think would work best as we have family in OKC.We are coming from the Northwest but are from OKC originaly. We know the weather and the type of people,so no worries there.I will work in Ft. Wort or out of my house.I will travel to Dallas for a business trips weekly though.
I am want to move into a rental house that is 4-5 bedrooms no less thet 2000sf.I have 4 kids from 3rd grade to 10 grade.I do not need a fancy "newer" area buy something safe with no real issues.I know Plano and Allen areas. They seen to be pretty nice.I am wanting to see if renting a place with this criteria is possible for $700-$1000 a month for rent? Am I on crack or just to hopefull? I would really appreciate some advice on where to start looking.

From what I've been told houses(houses in the safer areas) going for rent are anywhere from 1000 to 3000 dollars. If you go to some of the websites for relators you can do a search and put your price range in the computer. I think the average for a 3-4 bedroom is around 1200-1500. I was recently on the computer looking for my mom and this is what I found.

We paid $1000 a month for a 2-bedroom apartment back in 2002, so I would say that a house twice that size will cost a lot more. You might look in Carrollton or the area of Plano just west of 75 and east of Ohio as those areas have older homes, not the newer, fancier ones.

Good luck!

I just did a search in the North Carrollton area... most homes (nicer/newer homes) were around $1500.

Default I hope this helps!

Our home is an older 3 bedroom 2 bath home for $1,300 a month Mortgage. It was a blessing because most homes in the Dallas area are more than that. Sounds like your family is very important to you and I would recommend that 2,000+ sq feet is definitely the way to go. Frisco and McKinney is a little further our from Dallas, but the pricing on the homes are a lot let expensive. You get more $$$ for your home. I hope the websites below are helpful when searching for your families home in Dallas. I will pray for you because I know that buying and searching for a home can be very stressful. Good Luck to you and your family!

Have you considered looking in the midcities (Euless, Bedford, or mabye even Grapevine) area? If you're going to be working in Fort Worth yet sometimes going to Dallas that might be a good place to search also.

Default Flower Mound?

I just sold my house in Flower Mound last year. I moved because of house issues, not the town itself. I higly recommend Flower Mound. It has great schools and centrally located in the metroplex, 10-15 minutes north of DFW airport. It has a nice small town feel with big city amenities. With all the houses on the market today, you should be able to get what you're looking for at about $1300 to $1600 per month if you're a good negotiator. Some people are getting desperate to keep their houses out of foreclosure! You should be able to benefit from this fact.

Just a little further north is the town of Corinth. You can do even better up their I'd think, but not quite as nice as Flower Mound.

Stay out of Lewisville and Carrollton!

Do not rent with Prime Properties. I'm currently renting with them and regretting it. Took my rent in one Monday morning (7:30am) the 2nd of the month (Sunday was the 1st) and they charged me a $20 late fee! I'm moving out at the end of my lease.

Cheers!

I don't know of anything in that price range near me except for some older duplexes for rent for about $900. They are 3 bedrooms though.

I don't understand your comment about paying $1500 for a house that has a $750 mortgage. I don't know of anyone with a mortgage that low for a house of any size. Is that typical in Washington?
