I was working late one night in the now-Chase building in Richardson and thought I heard an aluminum ladder fall over (had seen it in the hallway earlier).

Turns out somebody driving up 75 put a few rounds into the building. One 9mm bullet was lodged between the panes of glass about 3' above my head. RPD had maintenance remove the inner pane and they took the bullet.

Oh for pete's sake, it happens everywhere. Glad the OP is okay. A few years ago I was driving with my daughter down Arapaho in Richardson. Someone on a railroad tressle shot a bb gun striking the passenger side window where my daughter was sitting. I didn't go around saying I was never going to drive in Richardson again. Anyway, for your reading pleasure:

I don't know why I put Lakewood. We are just on the East side of Ferguson and on St. Francis Avenue. It seems to be a nice area with mostly retired couples. I do not know what that neighborhood is called. We are from SE Louisiana and are renting this house while building some apartments in the Lakewood area (E.Grand & La Vista).

I had car broken into in my driveway of a $350k house in Mansfield. There are no safe harbors unless you have a private guard just stationed at your house. Crazies and hoodlems know no boundaries.

I was in the Glass business for about 20 years.

We found generously giving BB & Pellet Guns to all the neighborhood kids made great Christmas gifts for them and a smart investment for us.

Just kidding

When we got back to Dallas this afternoon I taped up the broken window and it was a BB that broke it.

Well a BB is a lot better than a bullet and a house window isn't hard to replace. I just replaced one of mine. (It was my fault. I accidentally put my fist through it.) Hopefully this will be the last incident you have for a long time.

That is why our grandmas and grandpas - most of them anyway - fled to the suburbs (or HP/UP) back in the 60s and 70s, and people still enjoy the safer and newer cities to this day.

Less crime, less poverty, better city services, more house for your money (in some cases) and better schools make places like Frisco, Rockwall, Plano, etc ... just hands down awesome.

And again, I am sorry to hear what happened. That sucks.
Proof that you are unfamiliar with Lakewood. The OP mentioned St. Francis - which is on the other side of the lake.. On other threads you have claimed that Lakewood is full of 1960s homes.

Full auto into a police car with lots of cars around on a 75 service road near Richardson/Plano boundary. Then it went into Downtown Richardson with kids and lots of people around.

It can occur anywhere.

Richardson, TX Police Shootout - YouTube

Some perspective is due here.

A BB into window from the road is different than some hunter shooting at night which is different from a 9mm emptied into your house from the road which is different from four men doing full mag dumps from their AKs while walking around your house.

OP, glad you admit you live nowhere near Lakewood. You live in Claremont, don't you see the sign toppers?

75228 has always been low rent. There's a reason your house cost <$100 a square foot while houses on the other side on the railroad tracks cost 2x or 3x as much per square foot.

You should really edit your original post.
