Oh, oh, I do remember that!! Wasn't his name Michael? That was the funniest thing ever! I laughed just playing it now. Whoo, that made my day!

Actually, I kind of liked the ads for JAM! I thought it was cute!

I flip channels, too, during ice storms and tornadoes. I know it's usually overkill but we like the drama of it all or rather of the reporters in the field.

I don't know why it does, isn't that weird? I mean, I don't lose sleep over it but I guess I've never heard anyone else say it that way. Just wondering why this particular person says "metro area" and everyone else I've watched on other channels says "metroplex".

That would be Michael Scott, from NBC5 a few years ago. He has since departed for Charlotte, NC when an evening anchor position opened up.

I don't want to lose sleep, but newscasts are supposed to help promote the city in which you live. Metroplex is a unique word and only used in Dallas-Fort Worth. Reporters at Channels 8 and 11, and sometimes on 21, have substituted "metro area" instead, while 4, 5, and 33 use it all the time. I know this sounds trivial to everyone and doesn't mean a whole lot to many, but they're probably doing it just to be "proper", I guess, but it's a stupid prohibition, if that in fact, is what it is. I've noticed it. Maybe I'll ask the respective stations on my own time.

That stuff aside, does the station you turn to for news in D/FW also offer the best coverage of severe weather? I'd like you all to share that if you can.

I love channel 4 in the morning, they are such a blast. They can actually get me to laugh at an early hour. I enjoy Tim Ryan sarcasm.

In the morning I prefer Fox 4 because it's all local and the team meshes well together.

For the evening news I like WFAA 8 since they focus more on Dallas.

So 21 isn't the only then. All my life it's been called the Metroplex so I'm just wondering why the change.

As far as severe weather coverage I like 4 and 21. They seem to be the most comprehensive.

Default 4 Your Information

I sometimes tend to watch the station I'm already on when it comes to severe weather coverage, but I still frequent 4, though. But all of them, at one time or another, have become life-savers.

Not to mention, car-savers, too. (i.e. large hail.....)

On the subject of local TV news, what Metroplex station do you folks out there rely on for traffic coverage in the morning?

I watch 4 just because that's what I watch for news in the mornings these days and because they don't go off the air at 7:00 a.m. Sometimes I'm still at the house after 7 and I want to see local traffic news.
