Texas as of September 1, 2017 changed their RE licensing requirements.

With the new requirements what are the best places to take the required classes? Exams have to be proctored I am told. Are self paced classes allowed now? Can I go through self-paced books now or is that now out of the question?

Any buzz you've heard about the new requirements would be helpful.

Thanks James.

I like Champions... they have both in person and online classes. If time and your schedule allows I suggest the in person live classes. There are tons of online places to take the classes. I think the Dallas Community College is also a great place to take live or online too.

As to the self paced part, not really sure, but seems like the online places, you can not just zoom through stuff like you could in the past. It requires you to spend a certain amount of time on the page or section before you can continue. So you can't take a 3hr class in 30 mins even if you know the material.

Thanks for your response.

So basically even if I master the material I am stuck in front of a screen for certain time? So does that imply I am really going to have to be in front of a computer for 180 hours even if I can understand the material in less?

I took all my courses online through DCCCD. I was not required to spend a certain amount of time on each page. The classes were set up just like any other online class. I zipped through most of it very quickly. To prep for the test I ordered the Champions Exam Prep from Champions School of Real Estate ($120.) THAT was definitely worth the money.

From some unknown source of wisdom (??) online classes are required to display "seat time" in front of a screen to accumulate the specific number of hours the class has been approved for. So yes you will need to sit in front of a screen for inordinate amounts of time even though you may be able to read and comprehend very quickly. That requirement to waste your time will continue with your Continuing Education class requirements as well.
