I'm trying to plan a surprise 31st Birthday party for my husband. Any good locations anyone suggests? Restaurants and such. Thank you!

If you can swing $100 per diner, Wolfgang Pucks on top of the Reunion Tower is pretty swank. If that's not in your budget, I like Ali Baba at lunchtime for the mediterranean style buffet.

My wife took me to III Forks for my birthday this year, always a great steak.

I always have liked Nick and Sam's as well. Both of those are pretty pricey, so another nice place but much cheaper would be Dakota's.

Maybe a suite at AAC - sporting event or concert.

Where are you located? How far are you and your party guests willing to drive? How many guests? Ballpark budget?

Sevy's on Preston Rd in University Park- American cuisine. Royal China at Preston Royal- SE corner. Ruggeri's for Italian. Same area.

All have web sites.

Terilli's rooftop, St. Martin's side room, old side of Snuffer's (that would be fairly cheap) - all on Greenville Ave. If you are into wine, try The Wine Therapist on Skillman at Live Oak or Times Ten in the Lakewood Shopping Center.

So assuming your husband is FUN and not 31-going-on-61 (Sevy's? Dakota? Ruggeri's? REALLY, people???), fun places for groups that won't break the bank are:

*Sissy's Southern Kitchen - if you can get a reservation still
*the pizza place in the Bishop Art's District - drawing a blank on the name, but sit upstairs - great for groups!
*Tillman's Road House - request the back "Peacock" party room
*Hibiscus - if you can afford it
*Mia's or Manny's if he's a Tex-Mex afficionado
*Neighborhood Services - Lovers Lane & Inwood is my favorite
*Local in Deep Ellum - amazing food, off-the-beaten path for most Dallas folks
*second the Times Ten Cellars suggestion from Lakewooder. They will let you order pizza in from Scalini's and it is super yummy!

The back room at Hibiscus is nice and can be a lot of fun with the layout/having someone bartending.

Angelo's Italian in Lakewood has an upstairs room also - and you could hit the Balcony Club at the Lakewood Theater afterwards -- or have the party there if you start early - in the back...the age group usually skews a bit older.. however it's a very unusual place with live music.

For that matter, Campisi's on Mockingbird also has an old side room that is good for 30 people or so..

Thanks everyone. Could not afford III Forks or anything like that. I am wanting something fun and easy. Like mexican food where I could order fajitas and other yummy stuff for everyone and then everyone get their drinks. Is there anything good in the Plano area for that?
