We're talking jeans and t-shirt casual.

Lakewooder, you there? Got any suggestions?

On the border of lakewood/lake highlands... Tony's. It's on Northwest Highway and Ferndale (North-East corner, near Subway). Bring your own wine/beer - no corking fee!

I absolutely adore the Stromboli calzone. In fact, just ate one (well, part of one... they're HUGE).

So, where did you decide? We went to Campisi's on Mockingbird last week, not quite Lakewood but in that general direction. T-shirts and jeans would be fine :-)

Since I don't know the area hardly at all, we drove through it, were put off by the offerings at Gaston and Abrams (we're not really Cantina Laredo people), and ended up at Ojeda's on Maple...far from Lakewood. If I'd known where to look I suppose I could have found something...I know Greenville but I've done that place to death.

Speaking of greenville...I finally ate at the Grape. It's pretty small but the food was awesome.

For next time at Abrams and Gaston:
Scallini's - Italian
Kitchen 1924 - Everyday Gourmet
Times Ten Cellars - Great wine, appetizers and desserts (it's on Prospect)
Cantina Laredo - hey, it's good Mexican
**** and Bull: Neighborhood Pub with gourmet food

Further down at La Vista, and Skillman:
Lakewood Landing - dive bar with great burgers
Tipperary Inn - great Irish pub

ND, sorry I missed your post. Would also recommend Matt's (aren't you a UT person?), Angelo's also Legal Grounds is Papou's at night - an excellent Greek restaurant (can be a little expensive but it's more gourmet than many Greek places). Over on Skillman and Live Oak, there's York Street York Street :: Home, one of the top restaurants in the nation. Great Irish food / authentic drinks and band at The Tipperary Inn or hang out at Lakewood Lounge and The Wine Therapist.

Dunno where any of those are...never went to Lakewood much when I lived here before so I don't know the area at all and I get lost almost every time I go down there. This native Dallasite needs a MAP.

Hey we like that people get lost around here! Then we can tell the looky-loo cars from the locals. But I see a lot of the same cars all the time so it's not that difficult.
