I've had it with my builders neutrals. I want to add color, warmth, interest and texture in my home. What are the current trends in DFW? I don't want to go too crazy in case I've to sell my house in near future as some buyers and realtors find it difficult to see beyond paint or carpet. I'm interested in starting with great room and master bed room.

I have seen many Tuscan colors in living areas.
Lots of REDS on an accent wall.
textured paint jobs seem to be the norm in most model homes.
good luck with your search.

I hate accent walls. It tends to chop up a space. Warmer tones rather than cooler ones appeal to most. I just used Sherwin Williams' Jersey Cream for my entry, hall, family room/open kitchen. It makes everything flow and seem warm and inviting.

Neutrals, blues (Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage is VERY popular), and as of late- lots of grey.

My interior designer used a Spanish/Moorish color palate to transform my bland house into a home with classy personality. I was thinking of going the route of greige but my wife hated the idea of blending in with the Jonses. I'm glad two of them ignored me.

Trends?? Go with what YOU like. It's your home. My husband wanted to re-paint with the same builders beige so IF we sold it..... I'm enjoying my home while I live in it and this includes painting it in a way that makes me happy, happy, happy.

I have SW Crisp Linen in my bedroom with a SW Spa blue ceiling. I used linen, burlap and added aqua accents.

I used SW Restrained Gold in the entry and family room. The room gets lots of natural sunlight and the color changes throughout the day. Lots of dark wood furniture, burnished iron, linen with aqua and red accents. Warm and rustic. Ish.

Blonde is another color on the sample card that is popular. I just wanted something darker.

Buy samples of what you like. I bought 26 (!!!!!) for my family room before I decided. Some where immediately eliminated after just one stroke of paint on my wall. Others I painted a larger square. I loved the Restrained Gold the moment I saw it on my wall. I wanted to be sure so I painted a large section of wall from floor to ceiling. I left it for a week to make sure the relationship would last!

That's why I recommended greige; it's a bit more interesting than cream. In looking at listings online, I am seeing TONS of greige. I would run screaming from red walls.

Who makes Restoration Hardware's paints?

I also detest red walls. It's almost impossible for a buyer to paint over if they don't like the color, too.

Personally, I like taupe-ish walls and white crown molding/trim.
