Hey everybody,

I've spent the last weeks reading through city-data threads and they've been immensely helpful. Now that I have a general sense of the area, I'd like to give you my exact situation and see what you would suggest.

My wife and I just had our first child a few months ago and we currently live in Manhattan, KS. I grew up in, and love Manhattan, but I feel like my kids may have a better education and more opportunities in the Dallas suburbs. Since I still have a lot of family here, I definitely want to stay close to I-35, and the farther north we go the easier it will be to get back.

So here is what we're looking for...

- House around 280-300k with a pool and 4+ beds.
- Low crime
- The very best education and schools we can get in that price range.
- It really doesn't matter where it's located since I work from home.
- An overall family atmosphere

And here are some miscellaneous things that could be factored in...

- I would consider trees to be a necessity and hills would be great, but I really don't know if that's possible.
- Being close to one of the lakes would be nice
- Near I-35 would be an advantage when we drive back a few times a year
- The drive into Dallas doesn't really matter, we really aren't "big city" people and a slower lifestyle is just fine with us.

That's all I can think of for now. I've mostly been looking in the Highland Village and Flower Mound areas. There's a great looking house in Highland Shores we like but I'm sure it will be gone before we have time to come check everything out.

I'm really looking forward to hearing your thoughts. We're planning to narrow it down to a few areas and then come down to see them in person soon.

Thanks in advance!
