I think that it would be too confusing since we already have the Bush Turnpike. People would hear "Bush" and not remember the highway or turnpike part and always be on the wrong road. You don't want out of town visitors to be so lost in our town with bad traffic problems anyway.

Bad idea because of the already in place Bush Turnpike.

It's not going to replace the highway. It will be similar to what they did with the stretch by Cowboys Stadium in Arlington with Tom Landry. I've never since then heard I-30 referred to as Tom Landry. I don't really care either way and it doesn't cost the tax payers a dime so eh.

This question has already been asked in another thread:
//www.city-data.com/forum/dalla...essway-12.html

This highway has so many names already. Central, 75, north central, IH-345...

No, the name change would be confusing. Plus, signs aren't free to change, and cause lane closures.

Then you must not listen to many traffic reports. I hear The Tom Landry frequently on those.

Private money is paying for the signs.

Where did you see that? It does not mention that in the article. Will private funds also compensate the Tx dot employees who install the signs?

We have a winner! This will give us an intersection of the Bush Turnpike and the Bush Expressway.

Don't we have enough confusion with things like "Take North Dallas Tollway south"?

I can hear the Cali transplants (no pun intended) now.. take the Bush north, then the Bush fly away to the Bush west.

Maybe call it the Gov Bush...

'Take the Gov to the Prez...'

But really, federal employees don't need local landmarks named after them. The guy now has his own bookstore, leave it at that.
