This is probably the best solution. Hanging out in Las Colinas will give you time to explore the Dallas neighborhoods while at the same time getting settled in to work and getting to know your co-workers. There are several restaurant/clubs along 114/183 hosting plenty of after work socialization. Once you figure out where you are, making the bigger decisions won't be so blind.
Who knows, the right girl might already have that apt in Uptown.
