Lantana is really far away from most job centers. If your moving for a job in Dallas I would look at other places, the commute on I35 e going south would be brutal in the morning rush hour.

It's a nice area, and has fairly good retail in Highland Village, but there's tons of other nice areas all over.

Lantana is WAY out on the prairie. As Ronnie says, commuting from there into Dallas would be awful. If you able to work from home, it might be a possibility.

Lantana is definitely not way out on the prairie....Great Master planned community within minutes of major retail, entertainment and highways/major roadways. Not a great option if you work in Dallas. We know a few families who live there that work in Fort Worth.Lantana has fantastic amenities and a Golf Course. One of my favorite communities in the DFW area.

There are a lot of people who work in Las Colinas, DFW airport and Westlake who live in Lantana. I've had quite a few clients buy or build a home there.

If you're working downtown or far north Plano, it is too far.

It's a nice community with good schools.

There's was just another thread about this.

It's true it is a beautiful community with pretty much anything you need retail wise nearby, but unless you are working in Denton or somewhere nearby, the commute is going to be awful.

If you have kids, you will be zoned to Denton schools, which aren't totally awful, but really not that great. There aren't a huge amount of private school options nearby either.

Finally, check out the tax rates.

According to this site, they are 2.81% for 2012, which is pretty damn high for not great schools. For reference, Coppell is 2.73% (paying higher Dallas county taxes) and is one of the higher tax rates in DFW. Flower Mound and Highland Village, the next towns over from Lantana in the same county (Denton) have excellent schools are and 2.19% and 2.31% respectively.
