Is there anyone in the Lewisville/Denton area familiar with Shurley English who can teach it to me so I can teach my daughter. I am having difficulty following the book?

If you could find a child a little older than yours who has studied by the Shurley method it might be very helpful. They seem to be the only ones who 'get it.'

wow--as a long time English teacher in public schools who loves to teach grammar--some of this stuff would get you laughed out of a regular classroom after second grade probably--but if you have people who don't know grammar teaching it--then guess it needs to be very simplistic and basic...it seems pretty self-explanatory to me from reading the few samples they have on the web site...very step by step for teaching how language works...

after looking at the scope/sequence for this grammar series--I don't see why they wait until level 7 -- which I assume if grade 7--to teach the subordinate conjuntion--or delay teaching some other items like appositives...or intransitive verbs...
their vocabulary quiz with synonym and antonym choices seems to be a little above grade level for third grade...lots of attention to the articles == which should be pretty simplistic so that seems overdone to me...
PM me if you have specific questions--as long as you can give me the sequence from the material to look at--maybe I can help....
