Hi everyone!

So I am looking for one bedroom/one bath apartments in the Dallas area... I found one that I like at a nice complex (built just a year ago), but just realized the bathroom is in the bedroom. I questioned the lady in the leasing office and she said this is very common in Texas...I have never heard of the only bathroom in an apartment being in a bedroom..

Is this lady just trying to pull my leg or is this normal???

Do you mean that the only way to get to the bathroom is through the bedroom? If so, then yes, it is common - especially in smaller one bedrooms. I actually lived in a unit like this for three years. Never thought is was weird - just very convenient during the middle of the night (didn't have to walk too far to get to the potty).

I even lived in a 2 bedroom 2 bath back in the day, and each bathroom was inside each bedroom. No bathroom in a "common area".

Yes, that is exactly what I mean. I have never heard of this...in Michigan, they bathroom would always be accessible from the living room or kitchen...Never found in the bedroom, unless there is another bathroom.

Okay, just making sure!

Thanks for all the help

Very common for apartments here. I'd say it's probably more rare to find an apt that does have the bathroom connected to a common area, especially for a one or two bedroom.

when i had a one bedroom the bathroom had a door to my bedroom as well as the living room. I guess with small places they dont figure you will have many people over.

I have lived in different apartments in dfw area, however, I have never come across having only one entrance that is from inside the bedroom.
