I'm trying to put together a one day, no night ski trip. I'm trying to find a good place to snow ski, in which I can fly in the morning, hit the mountain and be back in Dallas before bedtime. Using the time zones, this should be doable, and I'm sure others have done it. Before I reinvent the wheel, has anyone else done this?

Dave

I'm sure you can fly to Denver and do this easily. The closest mountain is only a bit more than an hour away.

I think flying to Santa Fe with the mountain a little closer than Denver might be the best...I thought SW flies directly there but do not see a flight. American airlines does have non stop there and back, where you could ski half a day before returning home.

Just look outside your window.

There is a hill off Windhaven and Plano Parkway that will get you what you need.

I agree but it took about an hour and a half to get to work from that area to Irving....so if you live close to an airport you might be skiining in Santa Fe almost as quickly.

I just checked DFW to DEN on Spirit Airlines for a random day (Jan 31). Leave DFW 7:35am, arrive 8:35am. Leave DEN at 8:50pm, arrive DFW at 11:35pm. That's full day of skiing and for total flight price of about $100 + a carry on for your ski gear ($40 or so) = $140 per person.

Easy!

I'd rent at the ski area. Less hassle. And there might be shuttles at the airport to get to the ski areas. Again, less hassle.

Another option is to rent a hotel room at the ski area then catch an early morning flight back.

I drive or take shuttle from Denver to Steamboat Springs and stay overnight but with time constraints you can take Turboprop Plane from Denver Airport to Hayden. I'm not sure but may be there are direct flights from Dallas to Hayden during Ski season.
