Hi everyone. I am looking for a new church home. I like the non denominational, upbeat, large church that is also accepting of my girlfriend and I. I know it is a stretch, but I think that it is possible for a large city like Dallas to have something.

Edit: By gay friendly I mean welcoming.

There are several religious institutions in the Oak Lawn area of Dallas serving the LGBT population of various denominations, both Christian and Jewish. If you Google LGBT-friendly churches in Dallas, I'm sure you'll hit on some. I'm not in the community so I don't know of any specifics but I do know that they exist. I used to work with a gay man who was VERY involved in his gay-friendly church in that area. Dallas has a large, thriving LGBT population. Good luck!

OP, how old are you? If you're over 40, I would recommend the Cathedral of Hope.

If under 40, not so much. I'm in my 20s and I felt out of place going there. I also have the feeling I've seen more young gays in some large "straight" churches anyway. Actually at this point I'm asking the same question as the OP, since I'm not sure.

I am in my 20s.
I would rather be involved in a large straight church to tell you the truth. I just don't want a church that is going to condemn or try and save us.

I don't know about upbeat as I haven't attended services, but Northaven United Methodist is a "regular" church welcoming to gay members. Also Royal Lane Baptist has a diverse congregation. Good luck!

You may also want to look into Church of the Incarnation on McKinney ave. I have never attended services there, but have friends that are members and absolutely love it there and say that it is very welcoming.

There are a whole bunch of them. I have gone to Royal Lane Baptist and its very affirming of gay members. Gay members also hold a large number of positions in the church:
