Hi all,

We're moving back to Dallas in December, and I need to find daycare at least a few days a week for my 2.5 year old son. He's clearly ready for a little more structure and learning, but all the preschools seem to start at 3. He's also pretty social, so I feel like it's important that we get the kids (I have a 4.5-yr-old as well) started with the new routine as quickly as possible.

All of this is making me kind of nervous - am I going to be the only working Mom in the neighborhood? Are my kids going to be the only ones with sitters/nannies?

Also...we are going to buy in early January, so if you or a friend are looking to list a place in Lakewood/FH after the holidays, let me know!

Deb

Maybe you should contact someone here: Lakewood Early Childhood PTA in Dallas, TX or here: gwra : Greater White Rock Area ECPTA

And welcome home!

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of daycares in this area. You'll find it's difficult to get in. I would start calling around now if you are planning on daycare and get on some waiting lists. Some good ones are Kid Kountry, Park Cities Daycare on Binkley. I have a nanny, and have found that it is a better solution than daycare, simply because there are not many daycares in the immediate area, and the few times I have looked the wait lists have been incredibly long!
If you do not work, you can investigate The Learning Tree or Children's Center, as they offer preschool, but only until 12n. I think Learning Tree might go until 2p on some days.
Good luck!

Oh, and about being a working mom. There are plenty of moms in this area who work, so you'll be in good company! LECPTA even does a Working Mom's playgroup that meets on Saturdays for kiddos to play.
