I just brought my home in Murphy and need to find an electrict and gas company to service my home. Does anyone have any good experiences to share about low rates? If so, please PM me

Congratulations on your new home Rob.

Check powertochoose.org and type in your zipcode and a list of all electric companies that service that area will appear and you can shop around for your best need. I am not far from you and I have reliant. Been pretty happy with them, no outages except when the occasional severe storm, prices are pretty good and no contract.

For gas, I believe that you don't have a choice. It has to be CoServ Gas (800) 274-4014. For water, trash and sewer, The City of Murphy is in charge and they are at (972) 424-6021.

Good luck

Rob,

Depending on where you live in Murphy you will have Farmer's Electric Coop for electricity. No choice. It's one of the quirks of deregulation - municipally owned and coop served communities are not included.

I'm curious as to where you landed. As you've discovered, it's not a huge footprint, so we're neighbors no matter where you're at. I'm in Rolling Ridge.

It's probably Atmos. A small area is serviced by CoServ. Here's a map: http://pdf.plano.gov/igr/COPNaturalGasMap.pdf (broken link)

If you can buy power from a co-op, do so - because it will almost certainly be the cheapest electric provider. However, if you can't I highly suggest StarTex Power. StarTex power has the lowest month-to-month and fixed rates compared to the other electric providers.
