We are looking to purchase a house and found this one, built in 90's, totally outdated style with built in cabinets all over the house, very congested bathrooms etc. But we really loved the 2 acre backyard with huge trees etc. We were considering our option to do some renovation if possible. What are some names of reputed/credible home renovation contractors in the Dallas metro area? Need to get an idea about the budget to see if it's even worth negotiate a deal.

Might suggest you sign up for Angie's L*st or similar service. About the only place I know of with half way reliable feedback on a variety of services. Around here you will get word of mouth, which is okay as far as that goes, but it is still hard to independently validate the quality attested to.

I always estimate in my head to expect to pay about 25% of the price of the house if I am going to do bathrooms and kitchen updates......also look on the NARI website
NARI - National Association of The Remodeling Industry

Also, we have delivered to the door annually a "magazine" called Five Star Rated. They have a website at fivestarrated com. They do customer satisfaction research on various home services. Might be something you can check out and use as a basis for your search for providers.
