Hello, my husband, two kids (7&5) and myself will be relocating from North Dakota to Valley ranch. We found an apartment that has the Coppell isd for our kids' school. My husband is a CPA (certified public accountant) and currently serves as the chief financial officer at his work. I am an occupational therapist. We will be moving early August. Have work, housing, school set up.

My question is: whats there to do in valley ranch? Most people spend 95% of their time (out side of work) within a 2 mile radius of where they live. So that's why I'm wondering what valley ranch has to offer. Eating out, parks, attraction?? Thank you.

In valley ranch, I am not sure whether there is anything much.. Coppell has Andrew Brown park if you have kids. It also is a great park if you want to spend sometime outside jogging and running. Coppell athletics center is attached to it so it is really nice with swimming pools.
There is Luna vista golf course in las colinas and river chase in coppell if you are into it. La villita and riverside drive has a nice little lake area if you like to take a stroll..
There are obviously tons of restaurants (mostly chain) in valley ranch.

I wonder where you got that statistic? Maybe that's true in North Dakota, but here in DFW, people roam a lot farther than 2 miles from their home. Many times, you will have to drive that far just to get to a grocery store, shopping, etc.

Valley Ranch, which is technically a part of the city of Irving, has lots of shopping and restaurants. The intersection of 635 and MacArthur Blvd has restaurants and retail on all 4 corners! Since your kids will be attending school in Coppell, you will probably be going over there for their activities. Coppell also has its fair share of restaurants and retail along Denton Tap Road.

As for area attractions, well, they are spread out all over DFW. You can easily spend an entire day just visiting the museums in Fort Worth, or going to the Dallaa Zoo, etc.

Las Colinas has restaurants, part of Irving. But consider that you can put one end of DFW in NYC and it would extend beyond Philadelphia. DFW Airport is bigger than Manhattan. Commuting 30 min to an hour is common, with driving from Dallas to Ft Worth for shows, museums, etc common. Just learn to go with the flow.
