Big G beat me to it, I was going to suggest Murrell Park as well. The Corp patrols the park pretty heavily, so no wild parties, there are bathroom facilities available, the lake and hiking trails are easy to access.

Run by the Army Corps of Engineers, it is nothing like a typical TX State Park Campground. Right on the lake, as well.

Ticks all your boxes - fire pit, fishing, hiking, not many people.

Best part? It is right here *IN* the DFW area. So if the camping weekend goes south, you can be back home in 30-45 minutes.

Thank you two soooo much. This hits everything on the head and I don't have to travel far!
