Hi Everyone.

I am trying to find a house cleaner/maid, any recommendations?

My current one comes every 2 weeks. I pay her $90. She used to come at 8am and leave at 2pm but now she leaves at 11.30 and her excuse is that she is fast.
Isn't $90 a lot for 3h30?
I would rather pay more and have someone do a deep cleaning and not be rushing.

Thanks.

My cleaning service distinguishes between a "weekly" cleaning and a "deep clean." Weekly cleaning is cheaper but less thorough (exg. - they don't wipe down the baseboards).

I have monthly a "deep clean" and pay $165.

Pricing is all over the map for cleaning services. Yours sounds on the high side of average.

It all depends on what you're looking for.

Deep Cleans, based on a 2 bdrm apartment is usually done once a month, and we charge $185. That's for 2 people, and we will do baseboards, all floors, window sills, change bedding, and your 'typical' cleaning, as well as ceiling fans.

If you have us come every 2 weeks, it's $100 for the same clean. That is because there is less 'labor' in getting rid of the build up of 2 wks worth of dust, than 4 wks worth of dust.

Our usual clean involves doing baseboards anyway, it's all down to the amount of "labor" as for the opening post, depending on the size of your home, 3 1/2 hours for one person should be enough time.

I would say this ... you are paying for someone to clean for you, it's better to pay more money, for a better cleaning job, and someone who is qualified, and takes PRIDE in leaving your home as clean (and sometimes cleaner) than their own.

Cleaning homes is hard work, I know, because I do it as a living. I know that there are some people who will take advantage of people, and not do the work they are being 'trusted' to do. It's worth the extra money, to have someone take care of the things, and the little details that you are more inclined to notice. However, if that cleaning lady has been there for some time, it is possible to get a 'routine' down pat ... my boss and I can clean a 2 bdrm 2 bath apartment in under 2 hours together. It's about having a routine, and knowing what the client likes. Other places, same size take longer, based on the details of the home, and what the client 'wants' ...

Pay what they deserve .. too many people take advantage of cleaning ladies/housekeepers because they are 'cash' labor.
They work hard, we all do ...
