Hi,
We are relocating from California and have a 5 year old boy. Narrowing down the search to Highland Village, FM, Lantana.

I am looking for a very social community with activities to attend (moms nite outs, 4th of july parade for kids, easter parade, swim parties) and play dates for my son (a cul de sac kind of community where kids safely play outside in park etc and kids go to other kids houses).

I have lived in Newport Beach before and I prefer not to have elite, snobby neighbors as I have lived thru that and prefer nice and more down to earth people even if they have a good income. Of the above areas any insight on best fit for us?

Nobody is commuting for work other than to airport (for hubby). I am a SAHM.

I also am interested in any good private schools in area? My son is in montessori now and we are interested in catholic schools or montessori. If the public schools are very good we could consider that as well.

Thanks in advance.

You might start with searching this forum for those neighborhoods. Lots of information in older posts.
Good luck with your move.

The schools are very good in those areas, I would send my kids to these schools. FM & Lantana are some of my favorite family friendly areas.

If you like organized community events, I'd go with Lantana. Wellington or Bridlewood in FM are great but a lot depends on your price range and commute. Lantana will be the hardest commute being a little farther out.

We are also moving here from California and considering these same areas (mostly Flower Mound but just added Lantana to the list). We also have a 5 year old and a one year old and are looking for the same type of community as you. My husband will be commuting to the airport and I stay home. Good luck with your search! Looks like a great area!

For the best schools and the community feel you want, I'd do Bridlewood or Wellington. I wouldn't say Lantana's schools are bad, but they don't have the reputation of Flower Mound's schools.

Having worked those areas for decades, recommend Wellington. Good schools, lots of neighborhood amenities, wide range of housing prices. Bridle wood is further out, more country club. Lantana is nice, but depending on your work location, the commute can be a bear.
