we are a family of 5 native californians who will trade in surf and sea for cowboys n' bbq...We see the offerings of affordable housing and the family lifestyle TX seems to offer - looking forward to some space around my home and a nice place to live, raise and retire. We have decided TX is for us but is the construction industry hard to get into? My husband is a Project Manager (and a darn good one ) will work as Superintendent...willing to travel. Is there a need in the DFW-TX area (those of you in the know in the industry) We would like to relocate by March...

I would do some shopping on indeed.com

Choose "project manager construction" as the search, and dallas, tx as the location.

http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=project...l=dallas%2C+tx

some 900 ads came up set at 25 miles. You can set it up to 100 miles for more.

No idea about getting into the industry here, but commercial construction is certainly alive and well here. Tons of projects going on. I spoke with our construction folks when we were building out our office (was with Turner Construction) and the project managers were being encouraged to get LEED certifications. Not sure how difficult that is, but if it helps - it's worth looking into.

I'm a recruiter who places folks in commercial construction here in D/FW and I'm from California as well. I'll PM you, I'm happy to talk offline. Commercial construction in this area is strong and there is plenty of work.
