my oldest will be starting Kindergarten later this year. we are building a new house in east plano... house expected to be completed end of July. kiddos will finish preschool/pre-K at their current daycare then move at end of July. my youngest will then start at a new pre-school.

it looks like Plano ISD schools start Aug 24, so i am looking into local summer camps for the first 3 weeks of August for my oldest. any recommendations? south/east Plano would be preferred. Doesn't even have to be full time, or every day, can be 9am-2pm or something...my husband teaches at a local university and classes don't start til Aug 24 so he can be at home with him part of the days.

i know it's early, but ive heard that by Feb you have to start nailing down summer plans as the popular summer camps tend to fill up.

Plano ISD has a good summer program. University of Gymnastics is another good option.

My kids have never been involved with summer camps, so they really aren't on my radar. However, PISD's PTA has a SAGE (Special and Gifted Education) group that presents a summer camp expo every year for all students. I don't see a posting for 2015, but the page for 2014 has a listing of many camps available in the area.

Most are probably still available this year and might be helpful to you. Good Luck! and welcome to East Plano!

The Plano Leisure catalog that comes out in March will have several summer offerings at the various Rec Centers in the city. I believe the Plano SAGE camp fair is on Feb. 7 (10 am - 2 pm ) at Plano Senior High.

Default Summer Camp Expo might be answer

Plano PTA is hosting a Summer Camp Expo for typical, special, needs kids, etc. this Saturday at 10am. At Plano Senior High School, Building C, 2200 Independence Parkway, Plano 75075.

May be the best way to kickstart obtaining some camp information and discounts for the summer.

It is actually not that early at all to start thinking about summer camp registration. Many desirable camps fill up very quickly. Hockaday in North Dallas has a great summer camp program. Our neighbor sends both children there in July...
