Hello,

We have three daughters (ages 7, 5 and 2) and will be relocating to Dallas from Israel in the summer.
We are looking for a place with great schools (preferable public), great community (having Israelis would be great), reasonable commute time to Dallas downtown and to other hi-tech companies where my wife could get a job (she will be looking for QA TL / senior QA engineer position).

Any suggestions as to areas/towns we should focus on?

Many Thanks!

Hey!

Dallas has a fair amount of Israelis (at least compared to where I used to live in the Midwest). There's enough here that you won't know all of them and that you'll probably run into random Israelis at the grocery store every now and then. There are two small Israeli/Kosher stores that sell Israeli goods (Meat Point and Milk & Honey, both attached to kosher restaurants, I think) and the major grocery stores (Tom Thumb, Walmart, and Target for sure) will have a small selection of Israeli things as well (bamba, bissli, osem soup mix, shkedei marak, etc). There's also an active Tzofim troop for your older daughters if they are interested.

Anyways, most of the Israelis I know (mainly engineers, high tech, IT) live in Plano, specifically in the parts of Plano zoned to Plano West and Plano Senior (but West is probably more common). The schools are, I'm told, fantastic. There are other Israelis in Richardson (although I think most of these are not engineers, high tech, IT) and Frisco (engineers, high tech, IT) and probably in the other northern suburbs too. Plano schools are ranked higher than Richardson schools and I think Frisco ISD is somewhere in between.

By the way, most of the high tech people I know work in offices in Richardson, not downtown.

Plano is the center of the Israeli community in the Dallas area.

Met many wonderful Israelis at Chabad near Coit and Park.(Plano area).

There are Many places your wife with her background can find a job in that area of town.

I think Far North Dallas has quite a few Israelis, too, but as already mentioned, Plano would be your #1 option.

I thought Preston & Forest in Dallas and south of that area has a large Jewish population?

It definitely does, but the Israeli population is centered in Plano.
