I am a sinlge guy in my mid-20s moving to Dallas for work. My office is in Carrolltown, but I want to live in the city so there'd be lot to do in walking distance. From what I've read, Oak Lawn seems to be a good fit; but I was wondering about the commute. Do a lot of people commute using DART? I would only be a 10 minute bike ride from the Trinity Mills station on the green line, but I was concerned that I would not be able to fit my bike on the train during rush hour. What do you think? Thanks in advance!

Also, I am not 100% set on Oak Lawn, so if you guys have any thoughts on a good neighborhood to move to I'd love to hear it!

I first thought the OP was looking to hook up with dykes on BART (bay area).

DART has bike hooks in the handicapped car, but I've never ridden that particular line at rush hour to say how crowded the trains are. Off rush hour, no problem.

I have ridden red & green both with a stroller, and people made space, and have seen plenty of people riding with their bikes.

I'm a bike commuter.

It's no problem. Even on the most crowded DART lines at the most crowded times, I've always been able to get my bike on the train. The green line happens to be the least crowded line (it's the only one compatible with three car trains), so you'll be fine.

All DART buses now have bike racks as well.

Yes, I see a lot of people who take bikes onto DART rail. I don't ride the Green Line (the one that goes to Carrolton) often, but that line has the most capacity and seems to be the least crowded. I don't think having a bike even at rush hour would be much of a problem, especially since you will have a reverse rush hour commute.

I'm gonna be taking the Orange line next week. Is that line usually crowded?

That's simply not true. All the lines can and do accommodate three-car tandems.
