I began to take DART to commute since last month. I bought a e-ticket for a monthly pass and saved on my cell phone.

When I activated it, I just remembered it's valid until 10/9 which is today.

I took the train as normal this morning. And a train officer comes to check the ticket.

When I showed the ticket to him, the ticket showed as expired.

I closely checked again then found there is a specific time for the ticket showed as expired on 10/9 3:00 am.

Then the officer gave me a citation.

Actually this is the first time I got a citation.

Any advice at all?! I'm so worry about it right now.

You might try going to court and asking for leniency, but it's not likely. Pay the fine, and make sure to renew your pass next time.

how much is the citation. I would call and see if they would waive it but for my I would have to think if this is a 20-30 dollar citation I would spend more than 20-30 dollars of my time "fixing" it

If only it were that easy for everyone. For some a 20 dollar ticket can be the difference between rice and beans for the week or just rice. Or worse.
