Just call your school district and ask about their policy, you'll get accurate information.

It looks like you have limited options, enroll her there in grade they say or go private for a year or may be up to 5th grade if you don't want to uproot her twice. Another option depending upon your district is to try testing for double promotion next year. I would just enroll her in public, get a tutor or kumon for academic stimulation and let her be the boss in her class.

Also make sure you understand what it means for the deadline to be passed. In looking at the DISD website, the deadline is to take the test for free. They will give you the test any time but you need to pay $40. In your district there may be something similar. Since the tests are standardized (either ITBS or Texas Tech) ask if there are options to take the test elsewhere and have the district evaluate the results.

Hmmm.. Don't remember seeing this for FISD. Would have jumped on this if it were an option.

But the good news is that we've worked with the principal and have a plan to have my little one attend 1st grade math and reading classes.. That's a huge plus for us! He will still be in KG but will spend 2 hours a day in 1st grade and will have some additional homework.
