Currently living in Forrest Hills in an older 3 bdrm, 2500 sq' home, looking to add 500-1000 sq' with a better floor plan and some updates. Been looking at homes in 75214 and 75218 (mostly Lakewood and Forest Hills), not quite finding what we want. However, we found a gorgeous new home in Old Lake Highlands on a block with only 1 other fully updated new larger home. If we knew OLH was transitioning like FH and LW, albeit more slowly, we'd be motivated to make an offer. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If the home is zoned to Hexter AND you plan to live there 5-10 years AND it's in a prime OLH locstion, I'd go for it. The tear down craze will hit OLH full-on, starting with the pricier blocks closer to the Mockingbird. If you're talking the blocks off Lake Highlands Drive (Brookhurst, etc), I don't know that I'd buy new construction there because of the large price disparity between the existing homes and new construction. Those tend to be much smaller homes, too.

Thanks TurtleCreek80. There's just 2 tear downs on the entire block of older 3 bdrm homes. Even with a few more larger homes on the block, we'd be less hesitant--really love the home.
Thanks again for your comment!
