My son will be performing in the choir at this. It is always very informative and well worth going to.
This will be the first chance many people have to meet the new principal as well as to see the school. Going to this four years ago the year before my son started kinder, and meeting parents, teachers and staff convinced me this was the place for us.

Heard a rumor this weekend that Lipscomb is getting the IB Primary Years Programme - effective for the 2014 school year. But, I haven't seen an announcement and didn't think it was even that far along in the process. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

Some of the staff and active parents are going to observe at a local IB elem school soon. They hope to apply shortly thereafter and have great support from Board Trustee Mike Morath.

The prinicipal of Lipscomb, Mrs. Linwood, was in charge of the Woodrow IB Academy before coming to the school. So she is well-versed in all things IB.

The Woodrow Community Foundation is backing up the efforts to bring International Baccalaureate to the feeder schools, see: About Woodrow Wilson High School Community Foundation

I spent an hour and a half on tornado lockdown in the basement of Lipscomb today (I was supposed to have a tour lol.) Nice school, a little sad that I didn't get to observe a classroom, but I did have time to chat up some parents and teachers while we waited for the storms to pass. If we end up in the city, I hope we can find a decent rental in this school's zone.

Mrs. Gonzales did retire at the end of last year as she had a new grandbaby. Our new principal is quite organized and has great plans for Lipscomb. Our teachers are still wonderful and my children will enter 2nd and 3rd grade well ahead of the curve. They have loved having friends in the neighborhood who they attend school with. We have a learning garden andare bringing a learning chicken coop to the school over the summer. (always need volunteers in the garden and just started a "coop group" if any neighbors are reading)
The IB program is in the discussion and we have toured a program and have funding for the initial phase should it be the right fit. There are several tours planned for next year in the fall. Lispcomb is a great choice with or without the IB program in place!
