I live in Lake Highlands and really like it. Depending on what neighborhood you choose in Lake Highlands, you can pretty much get anything you like - larger, smaller, older, newer. What are some of your criteria other than yard, close-ish to downtown and not a fixer-upper?
Are you a realtor?

There's a home that's 2400 sq ft around the corner from me on the market for $309K that's saying it's move-in ready and it's in Lake Highlands... 75231 area code.

As a Realtor in the D/FW Metroplex, I would recommend the area around Coppell, Flower Mound, Argyle, Highland Village, and Lantana.
These are all close to the airport, and allow for easy commutes into either Dallas or Ft. Worth.

No, I'm not a realtor. We just moved to Dallas last May and looked in many, many different areas before settling where we did. I also grew up in the Dallas area. I'm just trying to help the OP's.

Flower Mound, Argyle, Highland Village and Lantana are nice but A LOT MORE than the 30 minutes from downtown Dallas that the OP is requesting.

...ESPECIALLY when you have to fight through the traffic in/out of each of those cities. If the OP works in downtown, they're looking at a 60 minute commute. Ugh!

Huh? There are more than 500 homes <$350k on MLS in Lakewood right now.

Lakewood is super diverse. It isn't just high end.

Yes I had another post on here where I was contemplating moving into my 'servants quarters'... a little Lakewood levity...

Seriously though, you should check those zips - 75214, 75206 and 75223. Everyones definition of what is Lakewood varies, and you will probably not find a large house for that amount but you will find some 'built-like-a-fortress' wonderful early ranch (with classic touches) or maybe even a small Tudor if you are lucky. Also you can get some great Craftsman homes for that price and even much less.

When you are all talking about Lake Highlands and Lakewood, where are you referring? If you could give me some zip codes or intersections for my mapquest search, that'd be great. Thanks!
