This board has been helpful as our family contemplates an unexpected and possibly very quick move from the Boston area to Dallas. My primary concern at the moment is getting a decent preschool spot for my 4 year old son to start this fall. It is so late in the game that I imagine everywhere good is full. Is it hopeless? Should I get on a bunch of waiting lists now? Many places seem to require in-person interviews. Any advice is appreciated--we'd want to be not too far from UT Southwestern and from what I understand should target Uptown, M Streets, Park Cities for family-friendly places to live with a degree of walkability. He's been in a wonderful preschool for the last two years, and I would hate to settle for someplace low quality just because of bad timing. Thank you.

If you're associated with UTSW, I can't emphasize how much you need to go get on the Callier Center's list. It's a phenomenal program.

According to their website, Northaven Coop Preschool still has a few spots open for next year. We sent our daughter there. Highly recommended.

We toured the facilities, but we did not have to interview. All that took to secure the spot was a deposit.

Thank you for the leads. You are right that Northaven has availability! And good to know about the quality of Callier. We would be affiliated and get a degree of priority on the waitlist. We don't need full-time care, but I will look into it. Slight preference for Montessori. Thanks again.

I believe The Weekday School at UPUMC may still have openings in the 4-year old program.

It looks like Our Redeemer (across the street from Northpark Mall) is still accepting applications: Space is limited but still available for all grade levels.

Our Redeemer Lutheran School: Admissions

My children are there, and we couldn't be happier. The pre-K 4 teacher, Mrs. Frank, is a wonderful woman whom my son adores:

Fun fact for you Bostonians: the pastor is Harvard '95.

If you are working at UTSW, N Oak Cliff is a family friendly option and a beautiful neighborhood. Kessler School (neighborhood private elementary school) probably still has a preschool slot for a kid that age.

North Oak Cliff also has Springhill Montessori, which is outstanding- gardens, chickens, etc. I'm not sure what their wait list looks like though.
