This morning I noticed the one Sprinkler zone in my backyard keeps shooting water unless I turn off the main water supply. If I turn it back on, it starts shooting again. I turned OFF the controller but no help. Recently our water meter was replaced by the county (I guess) which I noticed this morning as well. Should I call the city or a sprinkler repair guy? Please advice..

It sounds like the solenoid is not working properly on the valve for your backyard sprinkler zone.

You can replace this yourself if you're good at handiwork or call a sprinkler guy. If calling a sprinkler guy, I wold describe the problem and see what they suggest before enlisting their help.

If you use a sprinkler guy, it will be around $125 to replace.

Don't you have a shut off valve to the sprinklers? It is usually in a green box in the ground, close to the water meter location

Consider having whomever does your repair add a quarter-turn ball valve on your irrigation line near the meter so next time you can shut off your irrigation and leave your home's water supply on.

Lots of homes especially older homes don't have a dedicated irrigation shutoff.
