Most software developers make between $60K and 100K annually. In DFW, I'd try to get the salary somewhere in the middle. Obviously it will depend on the company and your education and experience as well.

A senior level ASP.NET developer in DFW with 12 years of experience should be making $80k, bare minimum, with $100k or even $110k being closer to market value for that type of position around here. $120k and beyond might be obtainable depending on many factors.

You can Google all of this, you know. I've been in I.T. for 19 years and I know what average salaries are for my field with my level of experience/expertise.

Good salary negotiating techniques, a good resume, and finding the right company.

If you have to ask, I'd say you're probably not going to get offers on the upper end of that range.

My wife's company pays Programmer 1 - ~$85,000 (degree, minimum two years experience), Programmer 2 - ~$115,000/$130,000 (degree, usually at least 4 years experience).

If they're .NET or Java developers, that sounds like they're being way overpaid. 4 years experience for $130k? I have 12 years of experience and I make less than that. Not much less, but less.

I know .net pays less but java developers can get $130-$140k no problem if your willing to ask for it. A lot developers have no clue on what the market is for developers.

A lot of companies can not afford developers and we are seeing a lot more hb1 developers now in the area. That may hurt the market long term. If you are good developer and look at decent companies you can find the higher salaries for now.

It hard though to make above $150k unless you willing to become a contractor. I think though that is true for a lot professions though.

Most are not web developers. Some are. I don't know how the web developers impact salary distributions/pay bands. But I will ask.
