We have been living in around 650 sqft 1 Bed Apartments in Houston and we find those to be much roomier than 1200 sqft 2 Bed 2 Bath over here in Dallas.

I have looked at 50+ apartment floor plans online and personally visited around 15 of them but still can't find anything that makes sense to us.

The concept is simple....we are looking for an apartment which satisfies the below criteria
1. It should be simple and encourages us to go out
2. The sqfootage for living, kitchen, bath and bedroom should be proportionate to the number of waking hours spent in those rooms.

I've lived in 2 and 3 bedroom apartments in Dallas and found them to be totally normal, better in fact than most of my friends in other cities and states, particularly when it comes to having a good sized kitchen.

Maybe look at 1 bed Apartments in Dallas? I've never noticed any significant difference from my friends who live in Houston when I visit.

I have plenty of complaints about apartments that are being thrown up in Dallas, but layout is not among them. Why do you need a floorplan to encourage you to go out? If you want to go out, do so. We go out quite a lot, but when we are home (be that our house or when we lived in an apartment) we want space to entertain, cook, etc.

You might consider it wasteful to have large apartment bathrooms (a room that probably is disproportionately large in your mind for the # of minutes a day it is used), but I dislike a cramped bathroom, and based on your inability to find what you want, I'd guess the market agrees more with me than with you.

No kidding is this guy/gal working on a Ph.D in Apartment Feng-shui. Maybe a bed and couch of nails and an intermittent screeching buzzer, no HVAC or hot water would be enough to drive the OP out.

And cleary it's all a grand conspiracy to frustrate the OP.

Took your advice and found a good roomy 1 Bedroom.

2 Bed 2 Baths are cramped and messed up wherever I went.

Might not be noticeable for people living here for too long.

As I have moved here from Midwest, its pretty apparent to me.

Texas for me is like California for Texans. Too cramped and clumsy

I love large bathrooms myself.

I always hated how apartment floor plans had huge living room areas, with tiny bedroom, tiny bathroom and small kitchen. Unless someone plans to throw lots of parties in their apartment, they may not need such a huge living room area.
