There was just a news story about these parents camped out. The first lady in line is trying to get the one and only opening in kindergarten. There are 30 openings in prek4. I guess pk4 is the entry level grade for this school? How does everyone qualify for that? Can't be low income.

It isn't low income; it's ability. Even if you are first in line to hand in your application and your kid tanks on the interview and observation (could possibly be a test; they don't like to say exactly what the observation is) - you won't get in.

Same here. "Always" being just one time, last year.

Ummm...no. My oldest went to Harry Stone about 11 years ago.

And then just two years ago, I tried Harry Stone again for my kid to enter K, but got wait-listed so we went to Lipscomb instead. Same year, put in the app for my oldest at SEM on the first day as well.

So...just 3 times so far for two kids.

I meant I've only been through the process once...and didn't camp out in the cold.

So usually pk4 is reserved for low income, ESL, military, and special ed, but in Dealey everyone just starts at pk4?

At Dealey and Harry Stone it is different from the neighborhood schools that offer preK4. It is correct that the neighborhood schools offer preK4 for low income, ESL, military, and special ed.

At Harry Stone and Dealey preK4 is the first year of entry and must be done through the application, interview process.
