Small (6) number of family members in town for Christmas at our house Wednesday. Wife has been ill and not able do the cooking so I am it. Where would you go to get turkey, dressing, pecan pie, cranberry etc for this small group? The option of Lubys' is where i will check out today. I am in West Plano and have a lot of choices just not sure where to try,

Thanks in Advance.

For Thanksgiving we buy our turkeys from Dickey's BBQ and pick it up the day before eating. All we do is warm it up and carve it, but they do get a lot of requests and they only have so many turkeys, so call as soon as they are open if you want to go that route. Pecan pie and cranberry can be had at any grocery store.

Whole Foods and Central Market are other good options.

Central Market! Way better than Luby’s. We had an incredible tenderloin from them one year.

I agree with the Central Market suggestion. The quality of food will be better than Luby’s.

Another recommendation for Central Market. If that's too expensive, Tom Thumb can be a good alternative.

Luby's would be my last resort.

We had turkey, etc. from Cracker Barrel at Thanksgiving. I was surprised how good it was - it was picked up cold the day before and we reheated in the morning. I think they also offer a hot pickup option on day-of, but not sure if this is the case for Christmas.

We had used Lubys in previous years, but I think they have gone downhill significantly from when they used to be pretty good.

As others have mentioned, CM is probably the best option, but also $$$.

Ended up using Kroger. Luby's is sold out of turkeys at all locations. Too late for Market Street, deadline has passed. Tom Thumb was out of turkeys'. Eatzi's only did online and did not have some of the sides that are a requirement. I did not think of Whole Foods or Central Market so locked in Kroger. Very unsophisticated process to order by phone. FIngers crossed that they do not fumble and that quality is not good.

I prefer planning and doing things well ahead but this requirement landed in my lap late yesterday. THanks to all for the good ideas. When Kroger had what we wanted I pulled the trigger before coming back to see what you all had recommended.

I am disappointed to hear Luby's is not too good. Its close by but we never go there here in Plano. In Houston we loved it. A decade or so ago the Pappas Brothers bought them but not tried them since.

Just as well John, I think yesterday was the last day to order turkeys from Whole Foods.

Reporting back. Kroger Christmas dinner meal for fake home was shockingly good. Not Kroger shoppers and feared we were settling because we were so late ordering. But they knocked it out if the park

My wife's mom and sister were asked by wikkopedia to provide a photograph for the entry picky. But all three had nothing bad to say and several compliments especially for the turkey and dressing.

We had a back up meal in case it turned out differently but we were pleased without considering price which was so low the lucky crowd was worried lol
