This is from their site:

The technology of Crystal Lagoons applies a system of pulses of disinfection that allows up to 100 times less chemicals than those used in conventional swimming pools.
Conventional swimming pool technology requires maintaining high levels of residual chlorine or other disinfectants in the water, to achieve permanent disinfection and avoid contamination of water by external agents, such as swimmers. Maintaining such high and permanent levels of chemicals in large bodies of water has very high costs, which makes it economically unfeasible. In addition, it generates a large amount of by-products that can be harmful to the environment. Therefore, it is not practical to apply this disinfection technology in large bodies of water.

Crystal Lagoons patented solution consists of applying controlled pulses of small amounts of oxidants / microbicides in the water of the lagoons, in very specific patterns that are determined by their own algorithms. This way, it is not necessary to maintain a high and permanent level of disinfection in the water.

The results of this efficient system based on pulses of disinfection allows to use up to 100 times less chemicals compared to conventional swimming pools and drinking water treatments, reducing the excessive costs of chemicals and their consequent damage to the environment.

The application of additives is determined electronically by injectors and sensors strategically located in the lagoon. This operation is managed online by the Crystal Lagoons Control Center, so that the presence of qualified personnel for the application of the additives and the monitoring of the water quality of the lagoon is not necessary.

Crystal Lagoons has also developed and patented a new technology that enables creating different zones within large bodies of water, which can meet different water quality standards according to local regulatory requirements.

I avoid community pools as I just don’t like sharing other people’s bodily fluids, fecal matter, infections etc regardless of measures in place to maintain cleanliness of the pool.

That being said, for people who don’t care about it, these lagoons should be mostly fine as there must be some considerations taken before developer invested a fortune. On other side, upkeep, repair, accidents, lawsuits etc can be a burden on HOA once builder is gone ... or not. These are all our speculations.

Right so that pretty much says they have a more sophisticated way of cleaning the pool where it just prevents it from getting contaminated rather to having it cleaned time to time. I mean this idea was invented by a biochemist so I'm sure there was some thought put behind this project. I'm pretty sure their algorithms were regulated by some body of authority. Like I said its not a DYI project. Also read about their filtration system aside from what they do for water treatment which is all being regulated.

For the people who don't like going to the pool so they don't get infected. Check it out:

Anyone that lives in Windsong and has opinions about the development or the lagoon? We looked at it, but I’ve had some people tell me to look at Star Trail instead, even a salesman who works for a builder in both places.

Has anyone ventured far north to see the lagoon? Any resident can offer a review? From google maps it looks interesting.

What are the questions you have about the Lagoon at Windsong? Just drove by it this morning to check the current usage level.

Check this website video produced at Windsong about the Lagoon, many more videos about Windsong Ranch/Lagoon are on YouTube. Anymore questions, just ask glad to help. We were some of the first residents to move into WSR in 2015. The BEST decision we ever made. Phenomenal growth, new PGA HQ under construction now with (2) 18 hole and (1) 9 hole course to open 2022 with NTX trail access to WSR residents and so much more(600 acres with new Omni Hotel).
