Scenario:

A newlywed couple, no kids although would like to start having kid(s) within the next year. We currently rent in Carrollton in the Hebron area and it's nice but just feels so suburban. We're the youngest people on our block and would love to have younger, hipper neighbors that are closer to our age with no kids/young kids.
Ages: 31 and 32
Budget: Between 300-350K
Job: Husband works in Legacy, wife goes into Uptown office 2x a week and works from home the rest.
Looking for a 3-4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom. Single-family home, 2000 sq feet and up.

We would like a nice neighborhood with trails, parks, safe, about 15-20 minutes from the trendy areas we like to frequent (Lower Greenville, Bishop Arts, Uptown, Oak Lawn, etc).

Areas we like: Far North Dallas (Near UT Dallas), Addison, Farmer's Branch (near Brookhaven College), anywhere above 635, below George Bush, between the DNT and 75

Which area would you pick and why?

I don’t really like any of those neighborhoods. There’s an area called Sparkman Club just south of Farmers Branch and 635 in Dallas that I’d look at. There are 2 good elementary schools and a large network of trails.

The neighborhood in far north Dallas where Bowie Elementary is located has a lot of young couples and young couples with young kids. The SW neighborhood at Josey and Valley View has the same. Sparkman Club is also a good recommendation. The neighborhood just north of Sparkman called Park Forest (where Degolyer Elementary is located) and the neighborhood to the east where Withers Elementary is located are also good neighborhoods to check out.

Ugh, tough. Based on your needs lower Greenville would be great except for the commute to Legacy, and your budget. If if was $50k to $100k higher would would be good and if you don't mind a commute. Otherwise your looking at North Dallas area somewhere around 635, but even then your budget won't go far.

So, let me get this straight. You are planning on buying in a time when we basically can't go out. Having kids basically immediately (as soon as they can be created). Living life as swinging singletons and having different wants in a few years that will be completely different from your current wants. Completely ignoring the potential change in life that will occur with the new child (or future children)? Ok, and you only have 1 post total on the forum.
