I wanted to plan a trip with family and rent a log cabin near the lake. I find that Lake Texoma website has many resorts listed. Which one would you all recommend? Their websites are not so detailed and all have similar items listed.

https://www.laketexomaonline.com/

But I also found Broken Bow Lake has really nice places to stay very similar but its about 3-4 hours away.

Thank you all in advance!

Have not been to either yet. (We’re new) However Broken Bow gets lots of recommendations and chatter from my neighbors! Have also been looking into it and it looks real nice! Lots of houses, cabins, log cabins to rent up there. Looks like there is plenty to do! The state Park there looks fun too - Beaver Bend!

I like the quality of cabins at the Broken Bow. Might be worth the drive.

If you want a cabin ON the lake then you need to go to Texoma. I haven't found very many cabins at Broken Bow that are actually on the shore line, they are at least a 5 minute drive from the lake. I think it has something to do with the Army Corps of Engineers restriciting any structures built within a certain distance of the shoreline. However I believe Texoma is also an ACOE lake and yet they have several that are right on the water. However they are probably much older properties that were grandfathered-in.

Broken Bow's cabins are generally nicer/fancier/larger than Texoma.

I can’t tell what you’re more specifically interested in: the log cabin or the lake. If it’s the log cabins, suck up the extra driving and do Broken Bow (there are other places but they’re all further than BB and it sounds like you want to minimize driving). If the lake interests you more, you can stay on Texoma but the houses on the lake there don’t have docks into the water. If you want to be on a lake that feels less crowded/developed than somewhere like Cedar Creek or Granbury (Texoma is pretty developed but it’s so big that it doesn’t feel as developed to me), try to find something on Lake Bob Sandlin. About 2 hours east of town, and I think it’s a really pretty area.

Possum Kingdom Lake and Lake Worth both allow cabins to be right on the lake. There are many for rent on VRBO and AirBnB, although I’m not aware of any log cabins. (Those are not very common in Texas.)

Texoma........more for another poster than the OP. There are indeed homes on the water with docks/slips on both the Texas and OK sides. There are some communities with docks owned per home but the home is just off the water. Docks and slips aside the problem for renters is these places for a lot of reasons including HOA renter prohibitions are rarely/almost never available for rent.

Broken Bow Lake......Beavers Bend State Park is just below the spillway. Within the park some state owned cabins are situated very close to the water..............the problem here is those cabins tend to be booked WAY in advance.
