Just checking in! How are everyone's private school applications going? How are interviews? We're mostly done with ours and starting interviews - they've been an interesting mix.

We are almost done with ours too. Has anyone done the 2/1 dual application for St. Marks in the past?

For boys in a certain age range, they allow you to apply to both 1st and 2nd grade with one application. All your testing is done for the second grade level (ISEE, group interview, etc) but they consider you for both grades and see which, if any, grade they feel you fit in best. I believe several other schools do this for certain grades for summer birthdays as well, but could be wrong.

I have a friend who did St Marks 2/1 a few years ago. They pretty much place you in 1st if your birthday is in the summer and likely will place you in first if your birthday is March-May as well. It's generally easier to get into 1st grade than 2nd, so it's a good thing. And my friend said that repeating first grade caused no issues, as the material covered in first grade at St. Marks was the same as what was covered in 2nd grade at her son's prior school. It's been a great experience for them.

My son is applying for St. Mark's again after being wait listed for this current school year. Anyone have any insight into if that will play into his chances this go round? We are obviously hoping it will help! He is middle school level.

We just took the new ISAAD first grade test. Anyone know how long it takes to get the results? The information form says they send it to the school immediately and to the parents “at a later date”.

My son is applying for St.Mark this year and he is scheduled to take ISAAD test. Can anyone tell me the duration of ISAAD test?

My son is also applying to SM. He's applying for 7th, and just took the ISEE test. It last approximately 3 hours. For what grade are y'all applying?

For the ISAAD for 1st Grade: 4 sections, 15-20 questions per section. I believe it was 20-25 minutes of time allocated per section. My son took this last year and we did it via zoom so I imagine it might be slightly different in format if you are taking it in person.
