Hi, all. Native Texan living in Chicagoland. I am considering fleeing back to my home state, to escape taxation cost of living, and most importantly, the indoctrination of my children into certain values by the school system. I have friends and family in DFW, but no one who I could consider close to neutral on the issue.

Are we seeing a push of leftist values there on the part of some of the school districts? Has this accelerated there?

I understand that cost of living has gone up a lot since I last lived in Dallas (2002), and that real estate taxes are pretty bad (on par with my area of Chicagoland).

Please understand that I am not looking to start a political discussion or fight. I am genuinely asking how friendly DFW is to my values (I am basically a mainstream Republican) nowadays. I'm sure that there is some differentiation: I would expect west suburban Fort Worth and Allen, and maybe far exurbs like Melissa to be fairly red, but what about places like Plano, Frisco, etc?

What public school districts teach, even in very blue areas, is driven by the Texas State Board of Education. They are responsible for reviewing existing curriculum standards and suggesting changes. The 15 board members are elected and given that this is Texas, most of them are Republican. A google search will turn up lots of articles about amendments and revisions that have been newsworthy the past 5-10 years. I doubt a lot of "leftist values" are making it into public schools.

I live in Frisco and I saw plenty of Biden/Harris signs during the November election. Of course I also saw plenty of Trump signs, but there wasn't a noticeable difference in their numbers. Parts of Frisco and Plano have a huge immigrant population (Indian). Outside of places like Lakewood and other areas in Dallas proper, you'll likely find plenty of other Republicans.

This last election, Trump won the state by a 52 to 47% split, or ~600k votes. Collin County Trump won 51.4 to 47.1, which was a difference of about 20k votes. That's not much in a county with over a million people. Dallas county Biden won 65% to 33%. Tarrant county (Ft. Worth) also voted for Biden, but by a much narrower split, 49.3 to 49.1.

Unless you live in a rural area, expect about an equal split between GOP and Dem.

What children are taught in school will be more driven by the state. From conversations Ive had with others in both DFW and Houston, the suburban schools tend to abstain from teaching specific political views left or right.

DFW as a metro area, voted just shy of 51% for Biden in 2020. If youre looking to be around only those that think like you, that might be harder.

Thanks. I'll settle for viewpoint diversity and schools whose primary mission is education.

Yeah, PP have shared that what is taught in TX public schools all conforms to TEKS and you can look over those for yourself any time. They are not a secret, nor are they overtly political.

You allude to indoctrination? To what?

In SoCal there is a concept of charter schools that one can choose to send their children, and paid for by public funds, afaik. Does TX have a similar alternative and if so are they large schools?
