Thank you. I really just don't want to lose electricity. I'm not too worried about the pool if the electricity stays on.

On my pump, the freeze protection program automatically cuts the pump down to 50 percent.

Just like someone from Illinois might get heat exhaustion (like my cousins from Michigan did one summer when they visited - immediately, like within 24 hours), or someone from hell I don't know where but not here might freak out over a tornado watch - BECAUSE THEY ARE UNPREPARED FOR IT due to BEING FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE - we reserve the right to be alarmed at 5 days of below freezing temps day and night, and several inches of ice and sleet accumulation.

But that's OK that you are venting this way. I understand the feeling because I sometimes roll my eyes when someone from Illinois complains about how hot it is down here in the summer. In like June. I always want to say "Just wait till August." Heck, sometimes I DO say it.

I live in Tyler and just reread our updated forecast. It's already been snowing lightly here most of the day and ice is covering everything which is not good for trees or power lines. I expect to lose power for several days though of course I hope we don't. But we are forecast to get about 10 inches of snow and ice between today and Wednesday, and that's a lot of heavy snow and ice. It's not fluffy snow like we got a few weeks ago, which was gone the next day. It's going to be below freezing both day and night for another four days and it's already not gotten above freezing here for two days or nights.

I just don't think it's going to be some sort of mild event. Hope I'm wrong, but the weather forecasts from every source are getting more extreme, not less extreme.
In '77, there was about 3 inches of coarse white solid ice coating the streets of the Mid Cities between D and FW that was there for about 3 days.

Yeah, there is really nothing in my control that I can do about it at the moment, if it cracks then oh well, I have to just get it fixed.

I plan to use the machine next on Friday, temps will be back in the 40s by then so if anything is frozen it should thaw out. I will have to periodically check on the machine when I do my first cycle after this to make sure the entire thing isn't leaking.

I'm more concerned about leaks/flooding than I am about the machine itself.

This cold weather is extremely rare. We get cold snaps every winter, but they are typically short-lived and not nearly this cold. We haven't had temps this low in decades and haven't had a measurable amount of snow in 6 years and at least 4 inches in over a decade. Hopefully this won't happen again for a while.

DFW might end up continuing its 4"+ snow drought, per the latest update from the NWS.

Are you saying that it's no longer predicted to snow? I didn't see that.
