My son is moving to Dallas to work in the public schools in the Cockrell Hill area. Can anyone suggest an area closeby to buy a house? He wants something in a safe area with good schools and a nice backyard. No kids yet, so it doesn't have to be big. So many homes in that area don't seem safe, and the properties have not been well maintained. He's looking in the very low 300s. Since we don't know the area, any suggestions? Thanks so much!!

Duncanville, Cedar Hill, Grand Prairie, Arlington, Irving, NW Dallas over by Love Field (the east side of the A/P).

While Cockrell Hill itself is the best area, it’s adjacent to one of the hottest neighborhoods in Dallas- North Oak Cliff. A collection of historic neighborhoods with a lively “Main Street” area called Bishop Arts District. This has been one of the best real estate value growth areas in Dallas over the past 15 years and is very popular with professionals like your son.

I would recommend he get hooked up with a local realtor (I can DM you a few who work in that area) and look at Elmwood or Hampton Hills neighborhoods for a low $300k’s budget. Zip code 75208.

Bonus - these area are a quick commute to work, just 2-3 miles on surface streets. A dream!

Duncanville would be my first choice. I think the schools have had some recent issues with board and superintendent though.
