This wasn't directed at me, but I will step in.

When I grew up in Dallas in the 80's and 90's I thought this was the most boring place on the face of the Earth....and yes....totally lame.

I didn't really appreciate Dallas until I left home, and visited "major" cities that were much smaller than Dallas and had half the resources.

Dallas has really blown up over the last 15 years or so, and its not lame at all.
Nightlife, cultural events, culinary....you name it.....Dallas has it all. That might not have been the case 20 years ago.

I personally love Dallas now. There are a lot of things to do. There are also a lot of job opportunities. Also, our family is here, so we will be here indefinitely.

Any other recommendations for things to do/see/eat/drink for a group of 8, 4 married couples (gonna check into many of the recommendations already listed on this thread)? We're all 30somethings surprising the first in our group who is turning 40 (and a big Cowboys fan) with a weekend trip to Dallas for a game and some fun.

The Cowboy stadium is in Arlington - 25+minutes from Downtown Dallas. I wouldn't recommend staying there. The surrounding area does have the new baseball stadium, but it is not walkable nor is there much to do unless you want to go to Six Flags

I'd definitely make reservations to eat places - tables for 8 will otherwise take a long wait or be difficult to get into at all. What do you want to do in the daytime? Ya'll could go to Top Golf, museums, axe throwing (Whiskey Hatchet in Deep Ellum), bowling at the Statler, pool time (its still warm here), or the always popular day drinking at a patio.

Yeah I thought it might be best to stay downtown for more access to things even though we'll be going to the game. Any idea how difficult it is to get an Uber/Lyft after a game, a long wait I assume?

Agreed, I'd like to nail down some dinner locales asap and get reservations as we get closer given the size of our group (trip is planned for Nov). During the day, I think sightseeing/museums would be interesting (we're from small town NC ). Statler seems pretty cool, bowling and a speakeasy. Of course food and day drinking sound good. We've been to an axe throwing place here at home, have never been to Top Golf though. We're open to most anything, maybe some window shopping if there is a nice area with shops and such to browse.

Downtown Fort Worth in the evenings is really lovely. Some nice restaurants and the water gardens.

I second this. Definitely visit Dallas, but from a tourist persepctive, you might actually find more things to do and enjoy in Fort Worth, especially if you plan on spending time at a game in Arlington (the drive and traffic will be HELL coming in from Dallas during game time).

Oh yes don’t forget about Douwntown Fort Worth! A true gem of a city. There’s a wonderful restaurant in downtown called Cheesecake Factory, I’m sure you’ve never heard of it before. If you want a little more spice you could try Razoo’s Cajun, it’s the next best thing to an actual trip to New Orleans. If you’re craving something south of the border be sure and check out the Taco Bell on Henderson.

Last but not least, visit the Stockyards! Almost as fun as that one time I watched paint dry

I'll be the one to say it: pretty darn tacky for the MODERATOR of the Dallas forum to attack Fort Worth---the neighboring city---like that.
