With the NCAA allowing athletes to make money I’m wondering about the recruiting process in any sport for guys that are highly recruited in the DFW Area gonna look like, Just recently Nick Saban spoke at a convention with Texas High School Football Coaches he said his QB is making almost 7 Figures hasn’t started a game for him and he making money. Just imagine being a football player at Allen, Southlake, Highland Park, Desoto, Duncanville etc and you got boosters and alumni from major schools offering money and endorsements to come play for their schools. What’s y’all thought on that?

It's going to screw up College sports. The big names will become Pro players and the other guys will be resentful.

Recruiting will be a nightmare. Who can offer the most bribes..

The Supreme Court made the right decision. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter what the impact is on the game as far as the law is concerned. People should be allowed to receive compensation for doing work, and that includes athletes. The NCAA was effectively running a cartel where they were able to artificially set the wage rate at $0.

This happens in every business. Are realtors that are barely scraping by on commission resentful of top brokers making seven figures? Sports are just businesses at the end of the day.

We may see increased parity in college sports.

Big city schools like SMU, UCF, Houston, USC/UCLA etc., could potentially lure tons of recruits simply by being in large cities with lots of businesses willing to offer sponsorship deals to athletes. Obviously the "big boy" schools will have an advantage because of the size of the alumni networks and how those alumni are spread throughout the country.

Right now, college sports is suffering from what I call "LeBronification." Everyone wants to join up on the handful of super teams (Ohio State, Clemson, Alabama etc) and players willfully forgo additional playing time/game experience just to be the 3rd string at one of those schools. College football has always had inequity but it feels more lopsided today than ever. The rich alumni at big city schools need to use their clout to steer some of these recruits to other destinations.

It's good to see that athletes are getting paid above-board now. It's not like they weren't getting paid before. The bag-men and slick-talking boosters were always there..........so there's no point in people getting upset about NIL. Imagine the money that Reggie Bush, Vince Young or Tim Tebow would make in today's game.

Only thing the athletes need to worry about is taxes. CPA's across America are about to make some $$$.

It will be the opposite of parity actually. The biggest factor that drives parity in NCAA D-1 athletics (such that we have, which isn't much) is scholarship limits (85 for Football, 13 for Men's BB, 15 for Women's BB). Those become irrelevant for the large schools now.

The value of a scholarship to Alabama pales in comparison to the value of potential sponsorships. The larger schools will be able to provide compensation packages for walk-ons that exceed the value of scholarship offers from smaller schools.
