After recent discovery, I have come to find out that there are a total of 3 wasp colonies on my property of 8000sqft out of which 2 of them are on the house near the roof and one by the fence. After doing some research, I found out that these things eventually die out on their own once winter approaches. They have not bothered my family much when we are outside in the backyard.

Is it worth it to remove it immediately or leave it to die as we are approaching the winter soon? Maybe something else I maybe missing that I can get your help on if my calculations are off there.

FWIIW I killed maybe 100 "paper" wasps this past weekend. "Paper wasps" have the worst sting of them all excepting maybe murder hornets.

Tough call. Spectracide spray kills them dead roughly on contact. But dozens in a nest might not die fast enough to prevent some from attacking you.

This is just what I've seen.........spray them and don't move......the escapees will leave you be. For a big nest I'd hold a can in each hand and another close by in reserve.

Spray in the evening when they are less active, and there will be more of them on the nest. Try not to get the spray on your grass as it will likely kill the grass.

I pruned an overgrown shrub today and after I was done I realized there was a huge nest in a branch I cut, but they weren't even bothered by it. I just tossed the branch on the grass and will revisit tomorrow to see how to kill it.

At my home they just don't want to leave. I spray one nest, saturate it with Spectracide jet spray and next day they build a new nest just next to it. Every given day, all summer long, there are 2-3 dozen nests around my soffits, at the entrances and porches. Pest control was called several times, but with same results.
Interesting that my neighbors right and left don't have that problem. Pest control couldn't explain it either.
I don't even know how many nests are in my backyard, where I have several big, 80+ y.o. trees.

That sounds like something I'm dealing with.

I'm planning to wear some protective gear to avoid stings.

I think that would be part of the plan is to do this at night. At least get the one near the ground first. The bigger one is higher up under the roof area.

I've tried both evening and morning attacks. First light in the morning is better. Wed, Thur, Friday evenings look to be quit cool. Assuming you can wait one of those mornings would be optimal.

Expect to spray two or three days in a row and twice at least on the first day.

On NextDoor people in my old area in Hurst are having same troubles
Someone suggested Dawn liquid dish detergent in glass of water
Guess you could use spray u attach to hose end too
Sure Google or YouTube have exact ratio
And here is one

https://www.bathgardencenter.com/pos...-wait-on-wasps

And night or early morning when all insects are in the nest is better hunting
